Runno Zombo: 1.2 - Final Stand
NOTICE: There's been a small update to fix some issues with this build of the game, please re-download to get the latest version.
It includes the following changes:
- Fixed an issue where the music would play again upon returning to the menu.
- Addressed an in-engine issue where the game did not reach 60 fps.
- Fixed the final score being a decimal if the ending bonus is received.
- Brought back the Game Over font.
To celebrate almost one year since the release of RUNNO ZOMBO, I have created a new update for the game. This update brings both new content and more quality of life changes. This update also includes things that did not get finished when the Game Maker’s Toolkit Jam ended and some balance changes which should hopefully make more “fair” runs.
Content
- New Difficulty 2 obstacle.
- New Difficulty 3 thing for the buildings.
- Scoring System: Earn points by reaching higher difficulties, killing, and running far.
- Equipment: Bring an item along during the run to help survive longer or score higher.
- Tutorial: A linear introduction to RUNNO ZOMBO controls and mechanics.
Alterations/Balances
- Changed Main Menu to include Tutorial, Equipment and Option Menus.
- Changed the Game Over screen to include total score and difficulty reached.
- Altered the spawn and item drop chances for the new obstacles and equipment.
- Rendering resolution increased (from 800x600 to 1024x768).
- Bullets now disappear when they go off the screen, preventing off-screen kills.
- Attempt at preventing unfair deaths when on top of the two-story building.
- Shortened the length of the two-story building second floor.
- Decreased the fire rate of the SMG.
- Added running SWAT Zombo to the main menu.
- Some other smaller changes that I can’t remember anymore :(
Bugs/Issue Fixes
- Attempt at fixing audio overload by reducing amount of sounds played.
- Removed some transparency from the SWAT Zombo’s art.
- Fixed the UI not scaling properly on any window size.
- Fixed inconsistencies with the view sizes.
This will likely be the only major content update to RUNNO ZOMBO, but there may be updated versions for balancing and optimization. Much of the new stuff was also to test how they would work in a game similar to RUNNO ZOMBO. I won’t go into too much detail about that right now, but it would be a real Heartbreaker if I didn’t get to talk about it any further than this!
